pteranodons

Crested winged reptiles

Pteranodons is the plural of pteranodon, a large flying reptile that lived during the Late Cretaceous period.

Despite their bat-like wings and airborne lifestyle, pteranodons were not dinosaurs but pterosaurs—a distinct group of reptiles.

They had long toothless beaks and bony crests on their heads: The pteranodons soared over the prehistoric sea.
