propodus
Limb section, crustaceans
The propodus is a segment of a crustacean's leg, typically the sixth segment counting from the body.
In crabs, lobsters, and shrimp, it forms the fixed portion of the pincer, with the movable finger (dactylus) attached to it.
The term appears mainly in technical descriptions of arthropod anatomy.
