prevision

Seeing what's coming

Prevision is foresight or foreknowledge—the act of seeing or knowing something before it happens.

The word appears in formal or literary contexts: Her prevision of disaster proved accurate.

It can also mean a prophetic vision itself: He had a prevision of his own death.

The verb previse, meaning to foresee, is rare.
