prepared remarks
Written speech text
Prepared remarks are a speech or statement written in advance, as opposed to speaking off the cuff.
The phrase appears most often in political and corporate contexts: The CEO will deliver prepared remarks before taking questions.
The term sometimes carries a whiff of caution—someone sticking to prepared remarks avoids the risk of unscripted missteps.
