committee vote
Panel casts ballots
A committee vote is a formal decision taken by a legislative committee on a bill, amendment, or procedural matter before the full body considers it.
Committee votes determine whether legislation advances, gets amended, or dies without reaching the floor: The bill passed on a narrow committee vote of 12-11.
These votes often receive less attention than floor votes but can be decisive in shaping or killing legislation.
