precancerous cells
Abnormal but benign
Precancerous cells are abnormal cells that show changes suggesting they may develop into cancer but haven't yet become malignant.
Doctors identify them through screening tests like Pap smears or biopsies: The biopsy revealed precancerous cells in the colon lining.
Early detection allows treatment before progression to cancer.
Also called premalignant cells.
