advanced cancer
Progressed tumor disease
Advanced cancer refers to cancer that has spread beyond its original site or grown extensively, making it difficult or impossible to cure.
The term typically indicates stage III or IV disease, where treatment focuses on extending life and managing symptoms rather than elimination: She was diagnosed with advanced cancer after it spread to her liver.
Doctors may say "locally advanced" when cancer has grown into nearby tissues, or "metastatic" when it has spread to distant organs.
