posterchild

Face of movement

A poster child is someone who perfectly represents or embodies a cause, condition, or quality—originally referring to children featured in charitable campaigns to generate sympathy and donations.

The term now applies broadly and often ironically to anyone who exemplifies something, whether positive or negative: He's the poster child for why you shouldn't skip leg day.

The spelling varies between one word, two words, and hyphenated.
