pongee
Soft silk fabric
Pongee is a soft, thin silk fabric with a slightly rough texture, originally woven in China from wild silkworm threads.
The natural tan or ecru color comes from leaving the silk undyed.
Pongee appears in lightweight summer clothing, linings, and traditionally in men's shirts: a pongee blouse, curtains of raw pongee.
