political boundary
Where countries end
A political boundary is a line separating territories under different governmental jurisdictions—countries, states, provinces, or municipalities.
Unlike natural boundaries formed by rivers or mountains, political boundaries are human constructions, often arbitrary: The political boundary between the US and Canada runs straight across the 49th parallel.
They may shift through war, treaty, or negotiation.
