policyholders

Those with coverage

Policyholders are people or entities who own an insurance policy—the contract between an insurer and the insured party.

The term appears almost exclusively in insurance contexts, where it distinguishes those covered by a policy from the company providing coverage.

Policyholders affected by the hurricane can file claims online.

A policyholder may also be called the insured, though technically one policy can cover multiple insured persons while having only one policyholder.
