polar deserts
Frozen arid regions
Polar deserts are extremely cold, dry regions near the Earth's poles where precipitation is minimal and vegetation virtually absent.
Despite being covered in ice and snow, these areas qualify as deserts because they receive very little moisture—the ice accumulated over millennia rather than from regular snowfall.
Antarctica and parts of the Arctic are polar deserts.
The polar desert landscape stretched endlessly white and barren.
