pocket hole

Angled screw cavity

A pocket hole is an angled hole drilled into a piece of wood, typically at 15 degrees, designed to accept a self-tapping screw that joins it to another piece.

The technique allows strong joints without visible fasteners on the outside surface: I used pocket holes to attach the face frame to the cabinet.

Pocket hole joinery has become popular among amateur woodworkers for its speed and simplicity compared to traditional methods like mortise and tenon.
