plisse

Permanently wrinkled fabric

Plissé is a puckered or crinkled fabric texture, created by treating cotton or other material with chemicals that shrink portions of the cloth unevenly.

The effect produces a permanently crinkled surface that needs no ironing: a plissé cotton blouse, seersucker has a similar texture to plissé.

The word comes from French for pleated.
