planchettes
Spirit board indicators
Planchettes are small, typically heart-shaped boards on casters, used in spiritualist practices to produce automatic writing or spell out messages.
The device moves across paper or a Ouija board, supposedly guided by spirits through the user's fingertips.
The word is French for "little plank." Their hands rested lightly on the planchette as it glided toward the letters.
