spirit boards
Alphabet divination tools
Spirit boards are flat surfaces marked with letters, numbers, and words like "yes" and "no," used in séances to supposedly communicate with the dead.
Participants place their fingers on a pointer (planchette) that slides across the board, spelling out messages.
The best-known brand is Ouija.
Skeptics attribute the movement to unconscious muscle action rather than supernatural forces.
