pickerels
Little freshwater predators
Pickerels is the plural of pickerel, a small freshwater pike found in eastern North America.
The chain pickerel and redfin pickerel are the most common species, prized by anglers for their fight despite their modest size.
We caught several pickerels in the weedy shallows.
