perpetuals
Plants blooming all season
Perpetuals are financial contracts that have no expiration date or maturity—they continue indefinitely until closed.
The term appears most often in cryptocurrency trading, where perpetual futures (or perps) let traders speculate on price movements without the contract ever settling: I'm long Bitcoin perpetuals with 10x leverage.
Unlike traditional futures that expire monthly or quarterly, perpetuals track the underlying asset continuously through a funding rate mechanism.
