pentathlons

Quintuple athletic contests

Pentathlons are athletic competitions consisting of five different events.

The modern Olympic pentathlon includes fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, pistol shooting, and cross-country running.

The ancient Greek version featured discus, javelin, long jump, a footrace, and wrestling.

The word also applies loosely to any five-event contest: She competed in the women's pentathlon at the track meet.
