passkeys

Landlord's master collection

Passkeys are a password replacement technology that uses cryptographic keys stored on your device.

Instead of typing a password, you authenticate with biometrics (fingerprint, face scan) or a device PIN.

The system creates a unique key pair for each site, eliminating the security risks of reused or stolen passwords: I switched to passkeys for my bank account.

The technology emerged in the early 2020s as a collaboration between major tech companies.
