security questions
Account recovery prompts
Security questions are personal prompts used to verify identity, typically when recovering a forgotten password or accessing an account from a new device.
Common examples ask for your mother's maiden name, first pet, or childhood street.
The questions aim to be memorable to you but hard for others to guess, though many are notoriously easy to research or social-engineer: I can never remember what I put for my security questions.
