parallel ports
Legacy data interfaces
Parallel ports are computer connectors that transmit multiple bits of data simultaneously across separate wires, unlike serial ports which send bits one at a time.
Once standard on personal computers for connecting printers and other peripherals, parallel ports have been largely replaced by USB connections.
The 25-pin connector was recognizable on the back of PCs through the 1990s.
