Pancaking describes a flat, spread-out collapse or impact.
In demolition, a building pancakes when floors fall straight down onto each other.
A skydiver pancakes by landing flat rather than feet-first.
In sports, a player pancakes an opponent by knocking them flat: The lineman pancaked the defender.
Pancaking also describes batter spreading too thin on a griddle, or makeup caking in visible layers.
