overwater

Give too much

To overwater is to give a plant more water than it needs, typically causing root rot or other damage: I think I've been overwatering the fern.

As an adjective, overwater describes something situated above or crossing water: an overwater bungalow, overwater flight.

The two meanings are unrelated—the first is excessive watering, the second is a location descriptor.
