outline drawing
Shape without shading
An outline drawing depicts a subject using only its outer edges and contours, without shading, color, or interior detail.
The technique reduces forms to their essential boundaries: The coloring book contained outline drawings of animals.
Outline drawings serve as preliminary sketches, templates for further work, or finished pieces emphasizing simplicity and line.
