Ottoman architecture

Sultanate building style

Ottoman architecture is the building tradition of the Ottoman Empire (roughly 1300–1922), centered in Turkey and spread across southeastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

It synthesized Byzantine, Persian, and Islamic influences into a distinctive style marked by massive domes, slender minarets, and spacious courtyards.

The Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace in Istanbul exemplify its monumental forms.
