optical system
Light-manipulating device assembly
An optical system is an arrangement of lenses, mirrors, prisms, or other components that manipulate light to form images, focus beams, or otherwise control how light travels.
Cameras, telescopes, microscopes, and the human eye are all optical systems.
The term appears in physics, engineering, and ophthalmology: The optical system of a submarine periscope uses multiple prisms.
