octets
Groups of eight
Octets is the plural of octet, a group of eight.
In music, an octet is a composition for eight performers or the ensemble itself.
In poetry, an octet is the first eight lines of a sonnet.
In computing, an octet is eight bits—synonymous with byte in most contexts, though octet is preferred in networking specifications where byte size historically varied: IP addresses consist of four octets.
