north tower
Compass-named tall structure
North tower typically refers to the northern of two or more towers in a structure, most often the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, which was struck first and collapsed second during the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The term appears in discussions of that day's events and in references to other twin-towered buildings: cathedrals, castles, bridges.
The north tower stood 1,368 feet tall.
