non-renewal

Subscription left lapsing

Non-renewal is the decision not to extend or continue something when its term expires—typically a contract, lease, subscription, or insurance policy.

Unlike cancellation, which ends an agreement early, non-renewal simply lets it lapse at its natural endpoint: The landlord sent a non-renewal notice thirty days before the lease ended.

The term appears frequently in employment contexts where contracts aren't renewed and in insurance when coverage isn't extended.
