non-binaries
Beyond the binary
Non-binaries is a plural noun referring to people who identify as non-binary—those whose gender identity falls outside the traditional male/female categories.
The term is used both as self-identification and by others: The study included interviews with non-binaries about workplace experiences.
Some prefer "non-binary people" to avoid reducing identity to a label.
