neutral nations
States avoiding sides
Neutral nations are countries that remain uninvolved in a war or conflict between other states.
During wartime, neutral nations neither support nor oppose the belligerents militarily: Switzerland maintained its status as a neutral nation throughout both world wars.
Some countries adopt permanent neutrality as policy; others remain neutral only in specific conflicts.
