gastroparesis
Delayed gastric emptying
Gastroparesis is a condition in which the stomach empties too slowly, causing food to remain in the stomach longer than normal.
The delayed emptying occurs without any physical blockage—the stomach muscles simply don't contract properly.
Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, bloating, and feeling full after eating only small amounts.
Diabetes is the most common cause: Her gastroparesis was a complication of years of uncontrolled blood sugar.
