necropsies
Examinations of corpses
Necropsies is the plural of necropsy, a postmortem examination to determine cause of death—an autopsy.
The term is used especially for animals: The veterinarian performed necropsies on the dead livestock.
In scientific contexts, necropsy often replaces autopsy when the subject isn't human.
