mudbanks

Tidal sediment deposits

Mudbanks are elevated areas of mud along shorelines, riverbeds, or tidal flats, exposed at low tide and submerged at high tide.

They form natural habitats for shellfish and shorebirds.

Boats may run aground on mudbanks: The vessel was stuck on the mudbanks until the tide came in.
