mouse pads
Desktop gliding surfaces
A mouse pad is a flat surface, typically rubber or fabric, on which a computer mouse rests and moves.
Mouse pads provide better traction than bare desks and protect surfaces from wear.
Once ubiquitous, they've become less necessary as optical mice replaced ball mice, though many users still prefer them for precision or wrist support.
