moral virtues
Praiseworthy behavioral dispositions
Moral virtues are qualities of character that enable right action and ethical living—honesty, courage, temperance, justice, compassion.
Distinguished from intellectual virtues (wisdom, understanding) and theological virtues (faith, hope, charity), moral virtues concern how we treat others and govern ourselves.
In classical philosophy, they occupy a mean between extremes: courage sits between cowardice and recklessness.
Aristotle argued that moral virtues are developed through habit and practice.
