estriol

Weak maternal estrogen

Estriol is one of the three main estrogen hormones produced by the human body, along with estradiol and estrone.

It is the weakest of the three and is produced in significant quantities mainly during pregnancy, when the placenta synthesizes it from fetal precursors.

Estriol levels in maternal blood or urine serve as a marker of fetal health in prenatal screening.
