mine carts
Subterranean cargo vehicles
Mine carts are small wheeled vehicles used to transport ore, coal, or debris through mine tunnels.
They typically run on narrow-gauge rails and were historically pushed by miners or pulled by mules before mechanization.
The image of a mine cart rattling through dark tunnels has become iconic in adventure stories and video games: The hero jumped into the mine cart and hurtled down the tracks.
