midshift
During the workday
Midshift refers to the middle portion of a work shift, or to a shift that falls between day and night shifts—typically late morning to early evening.
In workplaces with rotating schedules, midshift splits the difference: I'm on midshift this week, so I start at noon.
The term appears most often in industries with round-the-clock operations like healthcare, manufacturing, and call centers.
