microstructured

Having microscopic features

Microstructured describes materials or surfaces engineered with tiny structural features, typically on the scale of micrometers.

These patterns—ridges, channels, pores, or other geometries—give materials properties they wouldn't have if smooth: microstructured glass that reduces glare, microstructured surfaces that repel water.

The term appears in materials science, optics, and biomedical engineering.
