microsilica
Ultrafine pozzolanic addite
Microsilica is an extremely fine powder of silicon dioxide, a byproduct of producing silicon metal and ferrosilicon alloys.
Added to concrete, it fills microscopic gaps between cement particles, dramatically increasing strength and durability.
Also called silica fume.
The bridge deck used microsilica concrete to resist salt damage.
