mental processes
Mind's inner workings
Mental processes are the internal activities of the mind—thinking, reasoning, remembering, imagining, perceiving, and deciding.
The term appears in psychology and cognitive science to describe what happens between stimulus and response: Aging affects certain mental processes more than others.
Mental processes may be conscious or unconscious, deliberate or automatic.
