conditioned reflexes
Learned automatic responses
Conditioned reflexes are automatic responses learned through repeated association between a stimulus and a response.
The classic example is Pavlov's dogs, which salivated at the sound of a bell after the bell had been paired with food.
Unlike innate reflexes, conditioned reflexes are acquired: Years of flinching at that ringtone had become a conditioned reflex.
