memory gap
Hole in recall
A memory gap is a period or event that someone cannot recall, a blank spot in their recollection: I have a complete memory gap from the accident.
The term appears in discussions of trauma, intoxication, aging, and neurological conditions.
It can also describe missing documentation or incomplete historical records: The archive has a memory gap from 1942 to 1945.
