matrilineage
Through the mother's side
A matrilineage is a line of descent traced through mothers—from a person to their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and so on.
The term appears in anthropology and genetics when discussing inheritance patterns, clan membership, or mitochondrial DNA: In this society, property passes through the matrilineage.
