lunar samples
Apollo mission souvenirs
Lunar samples are rocks, soil, and other materials collected from the Moon's surface and brought back to Earth.
The Apollo missions returned hundreds of pounds of lunar samples between 1969 and 1972, enabling decades of scientific study: Analysis of lunar samples revealed the Moon's volcanic history.
More recent missions from China have added to this collection.
