locking out
Barring from access
Locking out is excluding someone from a place or activity by securing against their entry.
Workers locked out by employers are denied access to the workplace during a labor dispute—the employer's counterpart to a strike.
You can lock yourself out by leaving keys inside: I locked myself out of the car.
Locking out also means blocking access to accounts or systems: The software locked me out after three failed attempts.
