lock stitch

Needle-and-bobbin stitch

A lock stitch is a sewing machine stitch in which two threads—one from above and one from below the fabric—interlock at each stitch point.

This creates a strong, secure seam that won't unravel if broken at one point: The industrial machine produces a tight lock stitch.

It's the most common stitch type in home and commercial sewing machines.
