loaner

Borrowed while yours repairs

A loaner is something lent temporarily while your own is unavailable—typically a car from a dealership during repairs: They gave me a loaner while my truck was in the shop.

The term extends to any temporary replacement: loaner phone, loaner laptop.

Less commonly, loaner refers to the person doing the lending.
